I’m excited to work with you to help you or your child improve their SAT score. With over 15 years of experience tutoring the SAT and perfect scores on both the SAT and ACT, I’m committed to providing the highest quality instruction. This page outlines how we’ll work together so we’re all on the same page from the start.
Commitment and Scheduling
We meet twice per week when you are not on vacation. Twice weekly sessions are necessary because there is so much material to cover and spaced repetition is essential for retention
Students should register for two SAT dates before our first session (Click Here to Learn Why)
If you have accommodations like extended time, please let me know. Extended time students must register for test dates well in advance as there are limited spots and last-minute registration is often impossible.
Complete at least 24 hours of tutoring before your first SAT, or 12 hours total if focusing on only one section (for instance, if just working on improving your math score)
Extended breaks longer than two weeks may slow progress. If you have an extended vacation, we can meet online. Please share vacation dates as soon as possible so we can plan ahead
Each session is one hour, in person, at the Wilton Library
Sessions begin and end at the scheduled time. A late arrival will shorten the session but it will still be billed in full.
Rescheduling is possible with 24 hours’ notice. Late cancellations under 24 hours will be charged in full, with flexibility for the first emergency
Homework and Student Ownership
Students who complete assignments consistently see better results and finish SAT prep sooner. Expect about two hours of homework between sessions
Homework and practice tests are essential for improvement. It’s like a sport: if you want to get better at free throws, you must practice your free throw shot
Because there are a limited number of practice tests, it’s important to take them under realistic conditions. A rushed test at 11 PM wastes a valuable opportunity. It’s better to wait and do it properly.
Plan ahead for when you’ll take each practice test: ideally on a Sunday morning. Send me the score reports as soon as you finish so that I can plan our next session around your results.
This is your score. Taking ownership of the preparation process is key to success
The effort you put in determines how quickly you reach your target score. Students who complete assigned work between sessions tend to see steady progress and finish their prep sooner, while those who skip assignments often end up needing more tutoring, actually creating more work for themselves in the long run.

Communication
Group text thread with the student and at least one parent, mostly for homework assignments and coordinating
Please provide email addresses. This will almost exclusively be used for getting you a login for the student portal and the parent portal. Parents will also receive an email monthly with an invoice for the prior month’s sessions.
In the student portal, students can schedule future sessions.
The parent’s portal will include lesson notes after each session, updates on progress, and practice test scores. Parents also can view invoices, make payments, and schedule sessions.
For scheduling, ideally you can commit to a particular time for the two weekly sessions. However, I know there are sports and other extracurricular commitments that may change weekly. In that case, you can schedule sessions for any open time slots through the student portal or the parent portal on a first come, first served basis.
